Life Goes On...

...that's what they say, right? Even the life of a blogger has to involve actual "living," which is what I've been doing for the past 2.5 weeks.

For example, I've been working on Penny. She's 6 months old now & we're working hard to socialize her.  It's not so tough in Italy; dogs can go pretty much everywhere, so long as they're well behaved.

A tired Penny is a good Penny. Especially at the cafe.

Dynamic Duo!

And because life cannot solely be about Penny, I planted a veggie garden! This is my first-ever attempt at growing my own food. I'm excited about the progress; these plants have shot up very quickly. I've even had to plant stakes in the pots to help the plants grow upright. Since I managed to kill my Gerber daisies in one week flat, veggies have been more rewarding. ;D

Cucumbers, Green Peppers, Long Eggplants & Zucchini. It's wonderful!

I did a redesign of my blog, too. By now, you've already figured that out. I'm considering a move to WordPress, but I haven't decided if it's worth the effort to do so.

And finally this week, some actual running. I started out Monday, just popping on the treadmill for 20 minutes to see if I could. The ortho doc told me to start with the treadmill since it would be softer on my feet/legs, which is why I was determined. I didn't want to push it & figured 20 minutes would take me to 2 miles. Well, it turned into 21:30 for 2 miles, but I was able to run with no real problems/pain.

On Tuesday, I planned to run a few laps to warm up before my usual Tuesday-night-weight-session.  I ran a mile, walked a lap, then ran a second mile. Holy Crapballs:

Sure, I was sucking wind at the end, but these are awesome miles...even before the foot injury. And this was followed up by a drop-set upper body session. Which means today (Wednesday), my arms/shoulders are smoked!

As far as the 26.2 dream, I haven't officially decided to run Verona. My foot has taken longer to heal than I expected, which has eaten into my training cycle. There are some half marathons in the fall I'm considering to fill the void. But right now, it's all about staying healthy & uninjured. :D

  1. I'm jealous! I want a veggie garden so badly. But seeing as how the cat has to remind me to feed and water her I just don't think trying to keep plants alive would be a good choice for me.

    1. That's why I have the veggies in the front yard right by the hose. It's hard not to remember to feed/water when they're staring at you every time you use the front door. But I want my food already! :D
